George, lived in one of the cottages.

He was a well known known character in the park,

his love was roaming the park and watering the plants,

now gone but not forgotten.

Think I have a photograph somewhere ;-)

Would love to see the photo. What year would that have been?.

Here he is,

George the St. Bernard, photograph taken around five years ago, I think.

Kelly's directory 1925.

Arbourthorne Cottages, Arbourthorne Road

Kelly's 1965.

Arbourthorne Cottages, St. Aiden's Road.

Note the change of road name from Arbourthorne Road to St. Aidens Road

I think that currently with the redesign of the Norfolk Park Estate they may be on Guildford something or other (road?)

Ahhh George! I miss him.

Have you been down to the Centre in the Park and had a look at the pictures we have? The Friends of Norfolk Heritage Park have a number of photos of people who lived in the cottages, a few of them named in above posts.

Welcome to Sheffield History whippety lass and thank you for posting this very useful information on this topic.

It sounds like you must work for the Friends of Norfolk Heritage Park from the wording of your post.

We do have other topics on here, some with pictures, on Norfolk Park if you have a search around.

There was a family lived in one of these cottages that have appeared on TV a couple of times because, although they are not an old couple, they live in the 1940s, they go out dressed in authentic 1940s clothing and their cottage is decorated and furnished in 1940s style.

They sound a very interesting couple.

They are Dave, friends of mine.

I haven't seen them for awhile but I'm sure they're at the same address. When they first moved in

to this old home [presuming it is the same place] there was an old Anderson shelter at the bottom of the

garden and they also found a old small suitcase with things like tins of bully beef and condense milk

inside all from the war years.

So it couldn't have been found by a better couple being as they were both into the forties era.

If it's the same people that I am thinking of, they live near to the park, and not in the cottages within.

Does this mean that the house they live in is actually a post 1940s (possibly 1960s /70s) when the Norfolk Park estate was built?

There are very few pre 1940s houses around there with it being agricultural land before the estate. If UKL says they found Anderson shelter and other wartime artefacts it must be an older property, outside the park cottages and NOT of post wartime build.

I don't think there are many properties that fit that description in this area.
