I wonder if any of you males can reconize yourselves from this picture of

Chaucer football team taken about 1962. Mr Price is the P.E. teacher

on the back, middle.

Yes that's the name I couldn't remember Tony Butler, I wonder if he is still as handsome.

I didn't know Derek but you obviously did.

Roger Pont - Top row 2nd from right.

Teddy Sharp - Front row , end left.

Ian Wood - Front row, third from right

Just a small point regarding the photo being taken about 1962.

I would have thought that judging by the numbers on the football that it's the team from the 1959 to 1960 school year.

I was there from the opening day around March/April 1959 for one year I seem to think that Mr. Price was not at the school when it opened but came pretty soon after. Roger Pont went on to be a policeman and perhaps Roger Cade could be one of those on the photograph as I recall him being a tidy footballer but which one I couldn't tell.

Thank you Mike, fancy not seeing that.

No problem Neddy- I didn't misread your post-just letting you know that DJ is still around. I know he was big mates with Tony and I don't know if he realizes he has passed away.I'll mention it to him. As Derek was the other lad in the photo that you pointed out were you also pally with the two of them ?

I'm also intrigued by the 'P' at the end of your post ? Does it signify that you know my name ?

Mr. Price was still there when I went up to Chaucer in 1970 and remained there through my five years at the school. He taught Maths as a secondary subject to PE.

I was at Chaucer Comp from 1965-1969 leaving that Easter and Joining the Army in the September of that year. One thing that has always stuck in my mind, I was instructed to escort a noisy lad to see Mr Plant Deputy head, as I attempted to explain why I was there, Mr Plant proceeded to give the naughty lad six of the best across the hand then much to my disbelief I got the same, I told Ms Longbottom (music teacher) what had happened, she promised to have a word with Mr Plant, never did hear anything more about it, happy day's 😄. I remember Mr Price, by I think 68/9 he was the games teacher at the bottom school 4th year and above.

Does anyone know, the teacher? is it Mr. Cornthwaite? if, I've spelled his name correctly, as he owned our home in Tinsley, always remember him coming to me during a break and said I hear you are moving, 'yes sir' I hope so' but my mum's not heard yet, she had by the time I got home and we moved in a week later, some really happy years followed.
