Fancy metric stuff, in kilograms, are proper weights Stuart I think what you are trying to imply here is that you would like the answers in Imperial pounds weight (lb) units. As there are 2.2 lb to the kg the conversion is fairly simple if you are offered an answer by a modern, trendy, forward thinking, pro - European fisherman. That's why you want Imperial units, they are old fish so need old measuring units Modern fish probably prefer the Metric system, unless they were caught in British territorial waters then they will still be Imperial. DaveH
Well done Steve, I knew you would know the answer Compared to my 1904 list you are within 1/4 oz or so take a special prize But can he convert them to metric for the likes of modern, trendy, forward thinking, pro European people like me? 1/4 oz would only be about 7 grams (0.007kg)
DaveH
No its the fish that have the scales Yes horrible nasty wet slimey scales. That's why people like you and me choose not to eat fish and stick with a decent piece of meat instead.
DaveH
The answers must be proper weights non of your fancy metric stuff. Wasn't there a Government ruling a few years ago now that shopkeepers had to display their weights in metric, - a ruling that mainly affected butchers, fishmongers and greengrocers as they sell their product by weight. That ruling seems to have gone by the by now. Probably because if a butcher priced a piece of meat up at say "£12.50 per kg" some little old lady would still come in and say "I'll have a quarter pound of that ham please love", after all she is not likely to say "Could you just weigh me out 113.67 grams of that ham please" is she.
