I attended the above school and remember the following teachers:

Mr Mullen (sports)

Mr Ledra

Mr Lancaster

Mr Quostle (Quack)

Mr Middlemass (woodwork)

Mr Knott (Head)

Does anyone remember the name of the Science and Art teachers?

I also remember the names of the following classmates:

Charlie Bell, Tony Llewellyn, Bill Robinson, Pete Smith,(all who played for Sheffield Boys football)

Tony Allen, Graham Marples, George Colley, Trevor Frost and Pete Horsfield.

Does anyone have any memories of this school at this time?

Welcome to Sheffield History WOODCOB and thank you for posting.

Don't know about 1960 but when the school closed in 1969 many of its teachers, and some of them could easily have been there for over 10 years by then, transfered to Norfolk and Hurlfield where the kids were bused.

At Norfolk we picked up Mr. Riley as a new science teacher from Wybourn, and also a Mr. Headley amongst others.

If these names sound familiar take a look in the Norfolk school Arbourthorne topic where I have posted pictures of some of them.

I left Wybourn in 1964 at the end of my school days at 15, the teachers names you request are Mr Beeley and Mr Middlemas.

Come to think of it if you left in 1969 the teachers in question could be Mr Norwood (woodwork) and Mr Riley (science).

Mr. Riley was a real character, when he came up to Norfolk in 1969, with half the old Wybourn kids, we had never really come across a teacher like him.

He was a good teacher though, - got me through CSE and O-level Physics no bother.

Does anyone remember the Elvin family - Christine, Linda, Jackie, Dorothy, Sharon and David plus their elder sister Pat Johnson?
