"Why ask Sheffield to be beautiful ?

Within her bounds she is pledged to other ends,

and outside them the morning and the evening are beautiful on her hills,

Sheffield may be likened to an untidy house;

it has been enlarged several times, but the entrance is still through the kitchen.

You knock at the doorand say

'Will you be good enough, to show me over your house, sir ?'

and the answer comes,

'Ay, and welcome, lad;

Come thee out into the garden'."

I could have put this into AQDQ, but I've no idea of the answer.

So, all hands to the pump, who was the author please ? No PM's, if you know just bung it up here.

I quite like the work. History indeed.

I'd have to check, My initial thought was that is was not a Sheffielder but a visitor and therefore all the more difficult to trackdown.
