Are there many of these Victorian post boxes still around in

Sheffield? I know there are plenty of in the wall boxes but are they

Victorian?

I spotted this one on Stannington Road. I wonder if there

are many Victorian standing ones left?

Information of where they are is included.

Thanks Dave.

I knew of the one outside the Cathedral and what a lovely shape that one is.

I didn't know of the one in Pinstone Street.

It's the in the wall boxes that intrigue me. There must be others around.

There's an interesting pillar box somewhere at Birley or Frecheville.

What's interesting about it escapes me. Does anybody know ?.

See these links

There used to be a very nice 'in the wall' Victorian one at the junction of Whiteley Wood Rd and Ivy Cottage Lane, until it got stolen a few years ago!

From an

Carterknowle Rd

I could be wrong but I think there's one of these outside the Town Hall

on Surrey Street.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

There used to be one in the wall at the top of Conduit Road Crookes. W/E.

Obviously none will be in working order but I wonder when the last stamps

were bought from this one.

I admire how it has been nicely painted and not neglected just because it's

not in use.

I feel sure it's a VR post box in the wall between St Marys Church Handsworth and the cross Keys I will have a look next time I walk past.

On Attercliffe Road - this one is a bit plain without the ornate lettering style - does that make it older or newer than the style in the pic above?

At the bottom is a makers name ; W.T Allen & Co, London.
