RichardB
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documen...p;resultcount=2 Petitioners: Hugh de Lacy of Thurlstone. Addressees: King and council. Nature of request: The petitioner seeks damages of £60 for three weeks unjust detention in the prison at Sheffield Castle. Through their malice and without warrant or reason, Furnival, Boturchait, Hallam and Parker took the petitioner to Sheffield Castle and kept him there in prison for a night and a day and then handed him over to the gaol in York, for which neither the sheriff of York nor his officers could find cause, and then Furnival held the petitioner in prison in Sheffield for three weeks without reason. Nature of endorsement: [On Face] Let him have a writ of trespass at the common law. Places mentioned: Thurveston (Thurlstone), [West Riding of Yorkshire]; Sheffield, [West Riding of Yorkshire]; Hallam, [West Riding of Yorkshire]; Brikeshertht (Brightside), [West Riding of Yorkshire]; York. People mentioned: Thomas de Furnival (Lord Furnival), Lord of Sheffield; Richard de Boturchait; Adam de Hallam; Robert le Parker of Brightside. Date derivation: No precise context established; suggested here as? 1322 on the basis that the events described might be associated with the disruption in England following the Battle of Boroughbridge of 1322.
