DaveH
Did Redgates used to do anything special for Christmas ? E.g. did it have a Santa's grotto or big Christmas tree ? Good question. I can't honestly remember, but, being a toy shop it must have done a large proportion of it's sales and taken a big proportion of its total income / profit in the run up to Christmas so it would have paid dividends if they did have a special Christmas crowd puller. maxiesmum
Redgates did have a Santas Grotto I remember this because I was the fairy who sold the tickets in 1969. After that Christmas I worked at Wilson and Gumpert in Fitzalan Sq and when they closed , I worked back at Redgates on the Large toy and cycle department in the basement. It was such a fun job!
