No relation to the family of the Hallams who founded the American Stage, made his first appearance in the United States at the Broadway Circus, New York in 1825 as "Joe Standfast" in "The Turnpike Gate"; crossed the Atlantic to engage a Company for Simpson and Cowell in 1827; died in Boston, Massachusetts in 1829; he was born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England and made his first appearance on any stage at Kendall Westmoreland England under the management of Butler, Sen., in 1814.
