Quick look, drawn a blank, as far as I can see it looks like there is only 1 Skain family and they are in Manchester, no James, will continue looking

Thanks Stuart - it does get spelt in various ways Skaine. Skeen, Skehan, Skean, Skeane, Skene, Skame Skeene..... not that I am expecting you to check all of those!!

There's a Skeen (in the index) Skein in the original 1901 Census listed as William, Nephew Age 6 born Rotherham

Aunt is Kate Johnson (Skein) born Middlesborough and her mother is Mary Skein 61 Widow born Ireland.

The address is 15 Blucher Street Attercliffe cum Darnall.

Don't know if that helps. The handwriting on the original is atrocious.

which sounds like a whole different kind of variation he he

A cousin of my great grandma!. I think I've just found his grandson, RFA - is that Royal Field Artillary? What's 177 Class?

RFA is Royal Field Artillery. In what context are you stating 177 Class, is this from his papers Dunsby ? Scan and post mate so i can have a butcher's.
