madannie77
Hand Forged Steel Balls An advert in the 1962 Guide to the Coalfields. The address suggests they were still on River Lane in 1962. Company website: I am sure it had a bigger history section when I first came across it last year.
madannie77
Having just found my scan of the advert in the 1962 Guide to the Coalfields I thought I would add it here, especially as the linked image is rather small:
lysander
The company forged stone crusher balls for use, amongst others, in the cement and refractory industries and were a substantial buyer of "off spec" or "second quality" alloy steels...usually at a considerable discount. The production of these balls was entirely at their Acres Hill site and I have no memory ,post 1964, of any operations at Pond Hill...but could be very wrong!
