RichardB
Inspired by DaveH - inspired ? goaded more like it ! I'm pulling together a listing of "Brewers and breweries", I'm not including beerhouses (that's a MASSIVE, ongoing task all on its own). So, consider the usual years to be covered and here's a request for any additional information e.g. picture links, link fairie links to old dataCensus, family connections, any lists from after 1925, "unusual" years e.g. 1868 - if you've got some data, please ask. As always, we're hoping to make this listing the best of its kind available. Your help appreciated.

Waterside Echo
Goaded Richard? I honestly don't know how you and other dedicated teachers manage to get through life without having major nervous breakdowns. One day last year my eldest stepson came home from school [All Saints RC] and on asking him what sort of day it had been at school we could not believe his reply. One of his form teachers was on sick leave, his place taken by a supply teacher. Oh it was great dad ! we made his life hell, in the end the poor bloke could stand no more and got hold of sons arm and sat him down. The outcome of this was that the main offender went to the headmaster to report a assault, ending up with the supply teacher being escorted off the premises. The son could not understand it when we told him he should be ashamed of himself, and took umbrage on been told that his actions had cost him his next two weeks spending money. W/E. Supply teachers seem to be an "easy target" as they don't stay very long before moving on to their next "cover job" so kids think they can get away with things that a full time teacher would follow up, but that supply teachers can't easily do. Having said that they do play up full time teachers as well and it's something that you learn to deal with one way or another. Thankfully Waterside Echo, you are an old style parent like myself. With us if our children get into trouble at school they know they will be in trouble at home as well for messing around at school. What is disturbing these days is the growing number of parents who think their child can do no wrong and will support them against the school, lie for them, cover for them and even encourage them to cause trouble at school, defy school rules etc, etc. Dealing with them makes discipline even more difficult. As ever, we will attempt to make this the best we possibly can. The beerhouses thread is partially covered and, given the date of most of them, we're unlikely to uncover a great deal more, more names yes, but little more in the way of details. Breweries and brewers offers more scope - company accounts, employees, pictures, opening and closing dates, labels/memorabelia (eBay etc), new buildings/removals, joint ventures (Watts and William Stones anyone); the chance to link pubs to brewers (attempted before but this time ... more than any other time ..., the chance for UKL and me to check dates for brewers who also happened to be victuallers. Check that lot off against your list for quality research and a good grade
