RichardB
As requested on the Cole Brothers link (?), here Wilks Brothers ironmongers shop, 9 Furnival Street, 1892. John Wilks set up as a cutler in 1744. In 1833 his descendant Joseph moved to Furnival Street where he made brass, steel and wrought iron gates and palisades for tombs, by 1892 they sold much more. They remained a family business until 1956, and finally closed on Mulberry Street in 1972. Enjoy Central Sheffield - Martin Olive

Guest tsavo
Thanks, great picture. I remember my Dad could spend hours in there especially the tools department. I was always fascinated by the strangly shaped metal bits and wondered what they were for. Till he died, my Dad used to moan about the stingey plastic bagged screws and nails and longed for a pound of one inch ovals.
