Nameplate At St Vincents Solly St

Hi fella,s

i recently took some pictures of the gates at St Vincents on Solly st, after much staring at the nameplate i think it says P E MARCHANT -MAKER -49 EXCHANGE ST -SHEFFIELD. Can anyone confirm or correct this,and possibly give any additional info

Frank Herbert Marchant. Builder's, saddler's & general ironmonger,

whitesmith, bell-hanger, gasfitter.

Manufacturer of iron gates & palisades, butcher's shop rails & fittings,

49 Exchange Street & Exchange Lane.

house, 75 Wilkinson street.

I should have mentioned that I came across a Frank Marchant II (2),

can not remember in which directory or what year :(

1901 Census, 257 Granville Road, aged 40 read the rest ...

It looks like they came up here from Chatteris in Cambridgeshire,

and it looks like Frank could have come from a farming family, but I did trace something

in the nearby town of Downham Market - Norfolk.

Marchant & Mason, Ironmongers, tinware manufacturers, High Street, Downham Market.

Macdonalds directory 1901.

I wonder if Frank could have been working for them, and that is where he learnt his trade?
