I'm once again the owner of some books, some of which I've never seen, returned from Stuart's scanning factory by my Brother in law and sister - up the frozen north for a visit.

Talking of books, did anyone see the advert in the Sheffield Star on Saturday

23rd April of a pack of Sheffield books for sale at £25 .

One of the books was a , A to Z of Sheffield pubs available at York Street.

I thought I'd take a seven mile journey and get one.

When I requested one the lady at the counter said " oh yes , I know which you mean,

they're in a pack aren't they?" So off she went to get me my pack.

She came back with two books saying that these two books belonged to the pack if

I wanted them but they don't stock the A to Z.

What is the point of advertising this pack of books if they don't stock them?

She told me to go to the local book shop.

I told her to go to . . . . well I wanted to.

I ain't bothered, I've got my own pub book which I bet is more informative.

Has anyone seen this pack of books or the A to Z book?

Sheffield History Pubs and WMC's, A-Z of Pubs; written 2006-ongoing by you, me, Tsavo, Dobberd, Jeremy, Steve, Stuart, Hugh, Neddy, Gramps etc etc and almost everyone else on here - anyone that has put in the effort to make a contribution or cpmment - a great work. A truly great work, shame I thought it was a years work; it's taken a while longer than a year but then, even I, didn't think how much we would learn.

Better than Lamb's a Pub on every corner (more accurate, with names of publicans)

Liversage - A-Z, bettered by finding more and older places and people

Bank's - the original, but dated and improved upon by many since the early 1970's

you finish your up to 1922 work (at which you are superb), then we will draft in some intelligent people and we'll post up a whole new thread - our book - Sheffield Pubs and Keepers 1820-1922; it'll be great !

This time next year Rodney, we'll be millionaires !

and sorry for calling you Rodney

Books about Sheffield Pubs - forget 'em - its here and we all made it happen.

Now, back to your research and a glass of something nice.

Could be one of the lowest selling books ever, because it will behere, free but full of pride in a job, well, if slowly done.
