Should be Mellowes ... probably

In 1941, F. Mellowes & Co. Ltd, of Corporation Street, Sheffield, purchased the majority shareholding for 4/- (20p) per share (about £23,400). H.A. Mellowes was appointed Chairman. The Sheffield company ran the Oldham subsidiary jointly with its own manufacturing systems, overseen by a Group Production Committee on which both Cowap and Fielding served. The Registered Office was transferred to Sheffield, where the Company Secretary was situated.

Could be Frank W Mellowes (MD), of 6 Tapton House Road (1919)

or Henry Arnold Mellowes (MD); All Square, Coldwell Lane, Sandygate (1925)

anyway, Lead Pipe manufacturers.

Sheffield Botanical Gardens;

" On the night of 12th/13th December 1942, the pavilions were badly damaged by German bombing of the city. They were restored by Sheffield Corporation in 1958, when Messrs. Mellowes and Co. used 10,000 panes of glass on the main pavilion, and 3,000 each on the two smaller ones".

They did build glass houses too.

I have this mechanism for opening the roof windows of a glass house, there is also a long rod to which are bolted pivoted arms that actually shove the windows open. From an old Mellowes glass house.

Was the fire on 1858/01/14 or 1958/01/14?

A little addition to this to topic, an old friend of mine was a manager, or some head at Mellowes by the name of Albert Drake, and also [,take note Richard] he was, at the same time, late 40 ties era the landlord of the Normanton Inn Grimesthorpe Rd Cheers Skeets

The 1928 Diary has arrived and is in VGC for it's age,

it has one or two personal scribblings/entries, that are nothing of relevance.

However the diary was published by 'Charles Letts & Co. and contains pages of information relating to ..

The Contents in the main diary are:

And this folded application form was tucked away inside the leather binder,

I wonder what that's about then?

I will be forwarding the diary (5½"x2¾" in size)

to our good forum member Stuart0742,

I have been informed that he is a professional in the field of scanning,

and I am also lead to believe that he likes copying old things.

Excellent post.I want to thank you for this informative read, real estate lawyers staten islandI really appreciate sharing this great post. Keep up your work. This looks absolutely perfect. All these tinny details are made with lot of background knowledge. I like it a lot. This was a useful post and I think it is rather easy to see from the other comments as well that this post is well written and useful.Aw, this was a really quality post. In theory I’d like to write like this too – taking time and real effort to make a good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate a lot and never seem to get something done….

I was brought up at All Square, Coldwell Lane. My parents lived there from the mid 50's to the mid/late 80's. I think Henry Mellowes may have had the place built - I'm sure my father told me the place was built in the 20's ...
