Apollo Tavern, 16 Charles Street, John Barker, 1851.

A new Pub name to me; I have John Barker at The Barrel, 16 Charles Street in 1852; one for Ukelele Lady to ponder on.

SS3/70/76

Garrick Hotel (existing 1849 data "Richard Pilley", 1851 census definately says Rilley), 6 Sycamore Street, Richard Rilley.

May need to update previous entries in view of this 1849, 1850 ...

Sorry but I've no record of an Apollo Tavern . it must have had a name change to Barrel .

It could well be Rilley, it could have been transribed wrongly for the Whites book.

I've re-checked and 1849 says Philley but from 1862 to 1883 there is a Riley but

with one L only. <_<

We surely have to go with all the variations since we can't know for sure.

Sign Of The Barrel, Damflask, Jonathan Ibbotson.

Thank you. Will take me months to get around to outlying districts ! I've been on Sheffield South for over a week.

Jonathan Ibbotson (earliest known keeper) known at the Barrel, Damflask from 1854-64.

[something I haven't had time to look into is : Jonathan Ibbotson as Innkeeper of the Barrel Inn, Damflask in 1841 as per this site.]

Beerhouse, 77 Porter Street, Bryce Garnett.

Actually Bryce Barlow Garnett, Hairdressor and Perfumer - had him on a Beerhouse listing a couple of years ago.

Pinstone Street Hotel, Pinstone Street, Elias Hollingsworth.

Is this new or a rename - one for Ukelele Lady methinks.

SS8 13/141

An Elias Hollingsworth known at King's Head, Canning Street in 1834 - for reference.
