I've never heard of St Philips school but it obviously says it on the chalk board. It would be interesting to know where it was. I know of a few in the area like St Stephens, St Georges , St Vincents and Philadelphia not forgetting Upperthorpe and Crooksmoor and Ebenezer. I think there was one near Trinity street, St Judes? It had occured to me but my other photo looks like Juniors, I managed to have a look in the Local History Library- not a phantom image! The school was an early national school. I found (well librarian did) it in a book called, I think, "Schools for the Poor" , grim reading, cramped conditions, nieghbours hanging washing in the playground.
