syrup
FALL IN THE PRICE OF COAL. The demand for house coal at Sheffield is extremely slack, and the agents of several of the collieries have reduced their prices to the extent of from 1s. 6d. to 2s 6d. per ton. The opinion entertained by many agents is that by Spring, fuel will be comparatively cheap. http://www.cultrans.com/

Last time we ordered coal for a steam rally about 5 years ago the cheapest coal we could find was about £65 a ton (Rossington cobbles). Steam coal was around the £125 a ton mark. OK, so 1874 was 136 years ago. (or about 130 years to our rally date) But to go from £0.125 to £125 is a 1000 fold increase in price! :o
