dunsbyowl1867
When I was a boy my Grandad, who live at Brightside, used to take us for walks all over to Grimesthorpe and Attercliffe where he had lived when young. He often used to visit as he called them "swop shops" where you could buy or exchange almost anything. He'd go with a pile of book and come back with a telescope! One closed shop was still there in Grimesthorpe until recently. Anyone else remember these?
RichardB
There was one on South Road, opposite the Library; one at the top end of Barber Road, Commonside, three or four houses down from the "beer off", opposite what used to be a Gold warehouse/shop type affair; also the one at the top of Corporation Street, next door to The Shalimar Curry House, facing onto West Bar, directly opposite the Moseleys Arms pub.
