  3. I remember the Fletchers van on Shiregreen estate 1972 to1979 my next door neighbour use to run it ....I helped on Saturdays, he use to pay me in elephants feet less than minimum wage but I had no complaints... lol

  6. Just checked 1841 census again...I thought George was born in sheffield but in column (if born in same county) it looks like a N = No. so now not sure where he was born.......

  8. I wonder if anyone has any information on my ancesters...DAVISON They lived around Sheffield town center and then Burngrave From at least 1800s to 1901.. I have particular interest in George Davison aged 50 on 1841 census living with wife Mary two sons William and Henry at 65 Coal Pit lane.Any Information would be very helpful.....andyd

As a new member I thought it may be a good idea to list where I have lived...you never know other members may have lived there aswell. at same time (may find some old friends) 1966 to 1970 Ordnance Place, Attercliffe 1970 to 1983 Butterthwaite Road, Shiregreen 1983 to 1990 Elnor Street, Langley Mill, Nottingham 1990 to 2002 Cammell Rd, Firth Park 2002 to present Queens Ave, Little Houghton, Barnsley
  13. Hi....My dad told me quite some time ago that under the main arch of the wicker arches you can see a repair which was done after a un-exploded bomb in ww2 hit it....I always forget to look when I pass under it....as anyone seen it?
  14. I think theres enough informtion here to convince my wife I was right .....(hopefully) I agree with most of the comments the hole in the road should have stayed...it was something that set Sheffield apart from other places
  15. Can anyone remember the fish tank in the wall of hole in the road, as I remember there was also a newspaper kiosk as well. My wife says she use to walk through there at least once a week and cant remember seeing it?....as I recall the fish in the tank were MASSIVE...
