  1. From Directory & Topography of Sheffield, 1862 Shaw Joshua, vict., Burns Tavern, 10, Townhead Street. Are the Burns Tavern and the Golden Ball one and the same? Joshua was my Great, Great, Great Grandfather, interestingly on all census returns, he puts himself down as a cutler and not an inn keeper. His daughter Mary Ann Atkin went on to keep the Victoria Inn on St.Philips Road and his son William kept the Rawsons Arms Hotel on Tenter Street and another 653-657 London Road.
