  1. Went to the disco there every monday night in the early 70's. Anybody else go????????
  2. A big pub but a lot of small rooms, and you had to live local to go in. I had my first drink in there 1/2 bitter and it cost me 10 pennies (4 pence). When we were young tear-aways on the manor we used to take beer & pop bottles back to the off license and get 2/3 pennies back for them, latter on we would climb over the gate get the empty bottles out of the return crates and take them back and recieved money for them again. Happy Days.
  3. Went in there before every Wednesday home game in the 70's.
  4. You dont know what you missed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. We would end up in there to watch Match of the Day in the back room. Who remembers the toilets, in the gent when you where p*ssing you could see into the yard & the ladies only had 1 seat and they had to queue.
  6. About where Witherspoons is now a bit of a dump but a nice pint. As I remember got took over by the Rockers, Heavy Metal brigade.
  7. Had a reputation as a pub where prostitutes hung out. Cant remember her name but one worked behind the bar and she was a right hardcase. (Bye the way I never used their services).
  8. Friday night get the 95 bus from manor top get off top of commercial street and into the Kings Head for one. It had a rotating door and a full size snooker table to the left. Never knew while years later, it was a pub where all the puffs met. lol
  9. Only went in a couple of times in the late 60's then it was demolished. Think they build Halford's on the site.
  10. My parents used to go in, in the late 60's early 70's for the open mike singalong.
  11. The last landlord was a right tw*t, everybody hated him. He hated any record on the juke box that lasted more than 3 mins, so we would put on Sebastian by Cockney Rebel which lasted approx 11min, his face was a picture. (And no I have'nt got a thing about pubs & juke boxes)
  12. What a pub, we used to get served at the bar upstairs and then down the spiral staircase. The music was great, some lunch times when there was'nt a disco the juke box was free. Once when I was slighty pissed I put Mary Hopkins Temer Harbour on about 10 times which did'nt go down well. Always wanted one of the round tables with a compass on, went away for 2 weeks and when I came back it had closed. Alway chanted to Country Joe MacDonald.
  13. Could'ne believe it when they knocked it down. One of the first pubs I had a drink in. Some friday night it would be full of pigeon fanciers, Monday were best topless go-go dancers (female).
