  4. Yes , Harvey James played lead guitar in Aussie band Sherbet. He was born in Sheffield in '52 , and emigrated to Australia with his parents in the early 60's. Sherbet's biggest hit - Howzat - in '76 was a top 5 hit and featured a memorable guitar solo section by Harvey. He died of lung cancer at the age of 58 , in 2011.

  10. ...the one at Aston was JDT 438N - 88 , which suffered serious frontal damage . Due to it only being a year or so old, it was decided to repair it. During its subsequent repair down at Central Works , Queens Rd , the front suspension was tested with air pipes ect and eventually realised the whole front of the bus could be lowered / raised at the flick of a switch.! This was to become the infamous "Kneeling National" and was hailed as a revolution at the time , and had appearances on Blue Peter and Tommorrows World television programmes.! It was through popularity of this bus which led to the eventual development of the low-floor buses we have today .
  11. ...have a search through this lot - some real gems !!..... http://www.flickr.com/photos/the_sweeney/
  12. alas no , the traditional signwriter advert skills have been superceded by computer vinyls for quite a while ! - although the buses are still usually hand painted like the above retros , but the linings , lettering and coats of arms ect are vinyl.
  13. Thanks Madannie77 , yes they took some doing but it was the only way to convert the Corgi casting as it is different to the Sheff spec buses. ....currently on with the Rotherham and Doncaster ones now !!
