  1. Taken by my father around 1962. I know because I am the toddler in the hat lol.
  2. Sorry, I put the last pic on to help date the set. I forgot to mention why.
  3. I lived in the maisonettes at the top of the hill in the middle of the picture. Thanks for a great shot.
  4. I loved the paddling pools at Millhouses park. The Lido too when I got older. Here are couple of pics from around 1963 when I visited as a toddler. My how things have changed.
  5. Thanks for all the relies. A few more to rack your brains with. The last one is building The Milestone pub at Crystal Peaks.
  6. Yes there was four colours and the alarm sounded every 15 mins to call a colour in.
  7. I went to Arbourthorne Central Infants and Juniors. I have just found this pic on a box my father had. If I remember correctly this is a trip to Riber Castle Zoo. Circa 1969. I can name maybe half of the kids here, I had forgot all about these school friends.
  8. Random pics, do you have any idea of the year?
  9. I found these pictures in an old photo album. Judging by the dates on others in the album, I believe my father took them around 1990. Does anyone recognise the subjects or have more information?
  10. I went there most nights from 1979 to 1983. I preferred the middle diving board as you could do stunts and better dives from there. I remember trying to soak the attendant that sat on the chair opposite the boards. I managed it a few times. Another thing we would do late in the evening is dive into the kiddie pool. You have to dive really flat to manage it. I was sad to see it go as it was a fun pool and didn't have the serious atmosphere of Pond's Forge. I got most of my girlfriends there, no mean feat as I suppose the goods were on show . I even met my wife there. I had heard that the pool was built 2 metres short deliberately so that it would no be used for events and be free for the public.
  11. Here is the demo. That being said, I paid £120 for the equipment in 2002. So it is probably better quality than what I posted earlier.
  12. Have you considered something like this? I used something similar 10 years ago and the results were good. I'll post a video as a demonstration later.
  13. Thanks Dave, I miss-read it as 8mm film. I will leave my advice on here in case others want it.
  14. Steve, That is almost how I did it, except I uploaded my camera footage from the camera tape to pc via firewire. The big problem is contrast, to get a 'square' image you must line up your camera close to the projector. This then gives most of the brightness in the centre, as you can see on my video. The alternative is to film from one side but you then get the image skewed. One big tip is to set your focus and not use auto-focus, otherwise the camera will try and change focus due to brightness or the original going slightly out of focus. Set it and leave it. I hope this helps.
  15. Thanks, I have changed the link to a higher quality render, and done some colour correction on the original film. The original is 8mm film and to be honest some of the issues with quality are with the way I recorded it onto video tape to get it into my computer. Having said that, the new HD cameras are so much better than the old 8mm and are much more convenient to edit. Will the city centre ever be finished? I don't think that is possible, change is always happening. Thanks for the encouragement.
  16. Here is a video comparing some parts of Sheffield in the 1980s with how they are now.
  17. I converted this 16mm film a few years ago. How many people can you recognise? (I Converted it by showing it on a wall and using a video camera record it, nothing technical)
  18. DaveH, Sorry for my late reply. I just put a piece of A4 paper against a wall and pointed my father's old projector at it. I used a cheap Panasonic digital video camera and just recorded everything. I then used Sony Vegas Pro 11 to edit the footage. Nothing really clever, perhaps I was lucky with my set up.
  19. I beileve I did do it with FSX. It was a long time ago. It is VFR as you say, the traffic is just a result of the low resolution video. It is static I am afraid. I am glad you liked it, thanks.
  20. Below are links to some Super 8 movies of Sheffield in the 1970's & 80's. I took the Lord Mayor's Parade ones as a young teen. I believe my late father took the street views and Christmas lights. Lord Mayor's Parades Sheffield Views Xmas Lights 270th Intake Boy Scouts I hope you enjoy them.
