It's not 'Trees vs Stone' division but basic physics - The press like tangible, easy, photo-opps; pics of lawful protesters being arrested preventing destruction of a war monument will capture attention more than letters concerning one that isn't there to see or rally round; that isn't a reflection on the public mind, people care equally about threatened trees AND stolen War monuments, but they need to be aware of it in the first place, then a palpable movement to get behind. It wasn't easy getting that for the tree monument, doesn't happen overnight; needs selfless dedicated volunteers to start something others might want to join, and to keep pushing on regardless of the hurdles till someone in power eventually has to listen. *Let's focus on the common denominator, our disappointing Council, and to getting more publicity so it becomes a 'thing' that the Council can't ignore.
