Hi My stepfather gave me this tin nearly 40yrs ago with some old stamps inside.Just wondered if anyone knew anything about these pastiles they were made in France for sole distribution in the British Empire *except Canada*
I can't remember Berlins Bar so I presume it is after my time in Sheffield so long after the trams finished in 1960. It looks like a Setright ticket so unless things changed after I left the buses it would be a bus route operated out of Herries Road garage. (Unless the new trams used Setright but that doesn't seem likely)
I can confirm that there was only one Greasy Vera. I was very distantly related to her. Vera Cardwell whose husband Les was on the buses used to help out when he could. I even did a shift or two there myself. My favourite was a fried egg sandwich with tomato dip.
I remember playing about around Greasy Vera's truck back in the 80s as I lived on Bye Bank. It's was located near the bottom of pitsmoor road heading towards the city centre.
Stupid o'clock on a freezing morning walking home from some gig or other, worse for wear, required the compulsory Cheggyburger stop at Greasy Vera's or the night just wasn't complete.
