Tinsley Towers circa 1952

Lady Rowena

Taken by my dad from Jawbone Hill/Back Edge circa 1952. It wasn't until I scanned the photo and saw it larger that I noticed Tinsley Towers. Strange to think that the M1 hadn't even been started when this photo was taken.

Nice photo, but I think the cooling towers are those at Neepsend Power Station, rather than Tinsley? You can see Shirecliffe ridge to the left and above, plus the gasometer to the right, that was also at Neepsend - there was no gasometer that close at Tinsley, they were across the valley at Wincobank. Any other ideas, or opinions?

That makes sense if the photo was taken from Grenoside direction.
