Guest Gramps
See ? I knew it would make trouble Seriously - the lists need consistency if they're to be useful. Perhaps we ought to seek a consensus of what to include \/

Guest Gramps
Sounds sensible Gramps, shall we just stick to dwelling? I think so....for the time being anyway. I'll have a go tomorrow at getting what we have so far into a spreadsheet and back into a sorted text file. There are lots of 'un-named' places on the Godfrey maps that do have names on the 1850/1893 maps, but I'm not sure I want to go there

But how can you leave off Wincobank Hill etc Not a problem - I'll edit your lists as I merge them with the others. I'd suggest initially keeping the lists to dwellings but including the 'rows' 'terraces' 'cottages' etc.. Later we can include churches, works, water wheels, and later still topographical features like 'woods', 'banks' and 'cliffes' as well as locality names. I'll post the merged list later today. Bayleaf
I'm with Gramps. I'd stick to dwellings but include named cottages etc.. As to the final product, should we aim for a pubs style listing with known occupants in date order, gleaned from wherever we come across them, photo links where possible, along with whatever else comes to hand?
Guest Gramps
At present I'm in the process of merging all the lists to produce an alphabetically sorted text file with the format... Place, Location (street etc.), Sheet number -name - which I hope to post later today I'll have this in a spreadsheet so it will be easy to add to and sort in a different order. Ideally we'll end up with a separate post for each 'place' so we can add demographic and historical details. But that's for further discussion by the Admin team. For the time being I'll just press on but will keep my eye on the thread for developments.
