Is that new building in the centre of the photo the rear of the Cutlers Arms ?

Not according to the owner of the photo whose house it was. They describe it as Bowman Drive/Close.

if you look at Bowman Close on Google maps, it’s one of the first houses on the left but set back from the road. I think it would originally be classed as Bowman Drive but as more houses got built it became Bowman Close

where the pin is in this image…

Obviously can’t argue with the facts

The Cutlers is almost identical in build to that house and is raised up from the road .

It looked like a view across the fields before the estate was built with Norton Aerodrome buildings on the other side of Norton Ave ( the road not being visible) to the right corner

Happy to be proved wrong

No problem

I can understand why you thought that. The photo alone without any context could appear misleading.

Looks like the bit of road running left/right in the dip that is only partially visible in the photo would have been the original main road from/to Townend/Lightwood before being made into dual carriageway, and would now be the lay-by.

The photographer would probably have been stood where the school is now, on t'uther side of the dual carriageway, where the arrow is in this image..

Don’t know about Vulcans but in the more conventionally shaped Victor..and possibly the earlier Valiants ONLY the two forward- facing seats for the pilots were of the ejection type ….the other three crew members who sat back to back to them had to make for the escape door in their  ‘chutes and jump out as ‘normal’….hopefully the captain had the decency to tell the chaps  behind that both pilots were  ‘ on their way out’!

Yes, that's correct, the Vulcan had the same, with the pilot and co-pilot facing forward, the other 3 were sat in a cubicle at the rear of the cockpit with their backs to forward flight, and yes, they would also have to bail out from the escape hatch behind them. Below in the photos are the rear of the Vulcan cockpit where the three crew sat, and a picture of the cockpit, the only instruction was DO NOT GRAB anything YELLOW and BLACK as you'll soon find yourself outside, dropping quickly.
