Edmund
I've not been able to find much but maybe some of the below helps move the search on? In July 1848 he was found not guilty at Rotherham of larceny - stealing a coat, a pair of trousers and 2 fishing rods. He married Mary Foster at Rotherham on 15th May 1853 (ref 9 c 492) although his name was recorded as Brummett Ward. The Independents marriage announcement included the information that "Brummett" was a gasfitter, which ties up with his occupation in the 1871 census. In 1874 Broomhead and his brothers were ordered to support their pauper mother Sarah:
syrup
Broomhead WARD (born 27 Aug 1827) This date of Birth seems to be out by one year, not that it helps very much.
