Athy
I enjoyed watching this footage, thanks for posting it. That day, October 8th 1960, I travelled with my Dad on tram number 506 to Vulcan Road and back (can't remember where we got on, in the city centre somewhere). Just one point: in 1960 Sheffield was in the West Riding, not in South Yorkshire.

Athy
A small part of what? I have consulted several old maps, all of which place Sheffield entirely within the West Riding.
Lemmy117
South Yorkshire didn't exist until 1974, set up as part of the Local Government act of 1972, before that Sheffield was part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, although it was autonomous from an administrative point of view.
