Jo Horton
Hello Jean Helen. I have seen your comment about the Frecheville War Memorial. My name is Jo Horton and my Father was Douglas Harold Beresford. Unfortunately I never knew him as my Mum was pregnant with me when he was killed in action. At the time of his death he was a Flight Engineer with 635 Sqn Bomber Command Pathfinder group. I don't know if your comment was in response to my quest in the Daily Mail to find someone who knew him but I also had a response from a lady in Sheffield who sent me a photo of the War Memorial and she said it was the new memorial. I would be very pleased to receive any further information from you. My e-mail address is johorton@blueyonder.co.uk if you would like to reply to that. There was also a very interesting response from a Dean Wilkinson whose father went to school with my father but I can't find that comment on here now. I really would like to contact him Thank you for your interest Jo Horton
Jo Horton
My name is Jo Horton. My father was Douglas Harold Beresford. This is a response to Dean Wilkinson's comment. I never knew my Dad as my Mum was expecting me when he was killed. I was very interested to know that his Dad knew my Dad and would be keen to maybe chat to him. I must apologise for my Grandmother's reaction when his Dad returned home. I believe this was a classic grieving reaction during the war that her son hadn't come home and yours had, however I don't mean to excuse this. My e-mail is johorton@blueyonder.co.uk so please e-mail me if you would like to be in touch Thank you for your interest Jo Horton
lysander
The Frecheville Branch of the Royal British Legion are very concerned about the future of the memorial and have already been in touch with the Council and local Councillors. It would seem that the Council is very aware of the sensitive nature and are proposing doing whatever the relatives of those commemorated wish. Would any relatives therefore please contact Mrs Pat Davey, Chairman of Frecheville RBL ... Her e-mail is; www.littledogrusty@hotmail.com
