All the buses are in Sheffield blue & white livery which was superseded (slowly) from 1974 onwards. All the buses are also either half-cabs or rear-engined with the earliest style of bodywork dating from the late 50s/early 60s. None of the more modern bodywork styles are in view. Davy Computing Ltd - the photo was posted some time ago and someone else asked the same question Old ruins at the bottom of the Moor / top tf London Road Who they were and what they did: Davy Computing Limited The address at '2 Clarence Lane' was where that building was located, but as you say, is Waitrose's car park now... Maybe Davy Computing has been incorporated into the Davy Markham group now..... Not sure?

Back in the days of mainframe computers were expensive and had to be housed in air conditioned, temperature and humidity controlled room only large companies had them. To maximise the use of their investment they would take on paid work such as calculating wages from smaller companies. I remember that when the company I worked for got an IBM computer they managed to get work for it so it was operated by 3 shifts of operators.
