Markbaby
I've only just recently been introduced to Urban Exploration websites. Quote from website: "DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their explorations, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect. Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely, taking nothing but photos, and leaving nothing but footprints." Try entering Sheffield into the search facilities on these sites for some amazing photography! http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/ http://www.derelictplaces.co.uk
Bayleaf
Had a quick look at the second one. The photos of Lindisfarne are brilliant, especially the dramatic skies. Thanks for the posting!

RichardB
Excellent stuff; and remember that the Court building was Sheffield's third Town Hall from 1808-1897 ... maybe the newer Members can try and find out where Numbers 1 and 2 were. The 'old fossils' can sit this one out [strong clue - Dancing by Candlelight] Thanks for posting the links, it takes a bit of rooting about to find stuff. A shame such buildings are let to rot and that the iconic Towers have gone ... those are brilliant pictures, the like of which a fat bloke like me would never manage to see in real life. Guest DBS
There's plenty of people in Sheffield into it if you fancy getting out and exploring Get in touch, we sometimes meet up every few months in a pub for some beers and to discuss new explores if people like the idea but want to meet in a more informal atmosphere. Otherwise, just get out there and do it!

In the accounts for 1566 there is a payment of eightpence to William Dycker "for storage at the new halle". Now, thats some age.THIS IS NOT A TOWN HALL, but a New Halle, Newhall Street - later site of Hollis's Hospital.
