I have a British style commando dagger, similar to the F-S Fighting Knife.

I would like to find out what year it was produced.

The bottom side of the hilt is stamped, William Roberts Sheffield England.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the site. Could the stamp be William Rodgers? If possible, please show some pics and that will help with the identification.

Hi Jake,

Are there any other stamps on it along with the makers name?

Cheers.

Hey,

No, the only stamp is the maker, on the bottom side of the finger guard.

Thanks

Jake

Welcome to the site Jake Wilson.

(handle design Joseph Rodgers)

'To support the demand for faster and cheaper production a new cast grip was produced. It is thought to be the design of the Joseph Rodgers firm, of Sheffield.

It had 27 concentric rings, and was cast in a non-strategic alloy.'

Take a look on this site .... Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife
