Are there any pictures anywhere of Hillfoot Club on Penistone Road.?I believe it closed in the 60's and is now an industrial unit.

The Midhill WMC

East Bank Road, Sheffield S2

"MidHill", so called because it was half way up the steep incline of east Bank Road

This is no longer a WMC and is currently the Earl Marshall PH

Dates required for its time as a WMC

Sheffield Lane Top WMC

Not being from this side of town I know nothing about this club other than my great uncle, Charles Lloyd Wainwright (1901 - 1976) was the concert secretary of this club and his claim to fame was that he had booked Engelbert Humperdink when he was nobody and went under the name of Jerry Dorsey.

I have a family photo of him as concert secretary in the club, however, for now here is a copy of The Star from 2007 when Engelbert last visited Sheffield and they did an article on "Charlie" (he was always "uncle Lloyd" to me) and the time he appeared at Sheffield Lane Top WMC in 1958.
