Bowling Green, Grimesthorpe

The pub was originally the Grimesthorpe Tavern, erected in 1822 by William Asforth, who added a new bowling green for Easter that year. The pub was sold in 1824, probably so that William could concentrate on the building contractor business he ran with brother John.  Thomas Pigott took it on and gradually changed its name to the Bowling Green.  William Birt (late of the Askern Spa Hotel) was running it by 1827.

It appears to have become a Care Home named Chamwood.

"Chamwood

2 Upwell Lane, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S4 8EY

Chamwood is an eight bedded home that provides accommodation for persons who require personal care. It has single bedrooms with en-suite accommodation. It is located in the Grimesthorpe area of Sheffield with good access to public services and amenities. Accommodation is on two floors. The home has communal lounges and kitchen/dining rooms and car parking facilities."

Not sure if it still operates as one.

The sign on the door according to Google Street View reads Chamwood Court but with only my phone screen I'm unable to read what else the sign says or the notice on the door.
