Wrong Wharncliffe, i was thinking about the one at Firth Park. Reminded me of the murals that 'still exist' in the cellar ?

I got the wrong one Richard, although i have spent a few hours in the other one re works do's !!!

Apparently they had dances in the cellar of the one at Firth Park, and some one painted 'Greco/Roman/Greek ? murals on the walls and they are still there. I'm sure also that it was featured in the Star at one time.

Hi miked, did it say what year this post card was?

For more names see A to Z , I've now updated it.

The card is for sale again, I've asked about the writing on the back and the year. Just FYI.

Well its come down in price after about a year! I told him the present landlord was interested. I wonder if hes put it on because of the posting. I should be on commission.

Connection - this hollow way is now destroyed (by mountain bikers) but you could track it all the way down from the Lodge to the Wharnciffe Arms. There used to be stepping stones over the river at this point. They were removed by the then occupant to deter walkers. In actual fact I there should be a right of way here! I would postulate that the pub was built here because of this link
