Other types of public service vehicles

When we think of vehicles in Sheffield the first thing that comes to most peoples minds are trams and buses..but there are other types of "service" vehicles out there.

We never see any pictures of police vehicles from years goneby or old fire engines etc

There is the forgotten hero..the ambulance and what about the bin waggon and old council vans.

Is there anyone out there with any interesting pictures of any of the above.

I have always been interested in cars and stuff but mostly thing that have a bit of a story behind them like emergency vehicles and such like. I love old news stories on tv when you get a glimpse of a old Viva or Escort police car or a old Dennis Fire engine.

I know its not good form to answer your own posts but after writing the above, I went on to the Libary site and found a very unusual fire service "vehicle"

Hi Hjdary

Let's not forget the Civil Defence vehicles that were working during the War Years ( This photo is on the site in a different thread ).

Except the ambulances are signed SD not CD. Sheffield District perhaps? Any info on when the shot was taken? Looks war time by the uniforms.
