Leonr2z
Suspect the answer might lie in the Title Deeds to the property.

lysander
As the inscription states, it was built in 1848....and is therefore early Victorian....but was it always a pub?
syrup
i have found these various spellings of Wybourn causes some problems but it sort of makes sense but does not answer the question about Wybourn Place T.F.V.S.. Sheffield Independent 13 January 1849.

RichardB
Best I can see is my original data - 1854 Frederick Wybourn is the keeper. The A-Z may have been updated by UkeleleLady but I can't get into it.
lysander
Well, it certainly solves the problem of it being a pub for a long time...it was granted a new license in 1849. A "free house" with tea gardens and seven acres of land and as it was up for sale or rent so soon after being built was it a bit of speculative development by TFVS?
