Folk here may be interested in this forthcoming event: at the Kenwood Hotel, Nether Edge - 2.30 - 5.30.  Local (amateur) historians will be offering up details of their latest research in a series of short talks.  Appropriately, the event will take place in the old part of the hotel ie in George Wostenholm's former residence.

The plan is for talks to last about 15 minutes, with about 10 minutes for questions and discussion. People will be able to drop in and drop out during the afternoon, and there will be tea and cakes available from the hotel at a cost of £5.

Rhona Dodds, Brincliffe: landscape and archaeology

John Baxendale, Rough and respectable Nether Edge

Peter Machan, Brincliffe Towers and the Styrings

Ingo and Susan Gudjonsson, Nether Edge artists

Nick Waite, The Sheffield Deaf and Dumb Institution

Margaret Blenkinsopp, Arnold Loosemore VC

There is a genuine hope for dialogue with people who come along to the event and with luck stories will be exchanged and recorded.
