Monday 10th AugustSouth Yorkshire History TripLooking at Tickhill, Conisbrough, Denaby and Hooton RobertsThis will be a day trip around South Yorkshire looking at Tickhill and the castle, Consibrough and it’s castle and church, a Roman and a medieval pottery and a Roman fort near Denaby and then finishing off at the Earl Strafford Pub in Hooton Roberts for a meal. Approximately 9am – 7pm. Booking early is essential for this trip to avoid disappointment. Pick-ups can be arranged from Chesterfield, Sheffield and Rotherham. £30 for the day including all entry fees. Please note that the ground can be uneven on some of these sites, so unfortunately it will not be suitable for wheelchairs. Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th SeptemberEvesham, Stratford and Warwick History TripThis will be a 2 day trip, with the first day looking at the ‘Murder of Evesham’, and then stopping overnight in Stratford and seeing the Royal Shakespeare Company perform Christopher Marlowe’s ‘The Jew of Malta’. On the second day we will head to Warwick and see the stunning Warwick Castle and it’s grounds, and also have a look at the Piers Gaveston memorial just outside. Exact itenary:-9am Rotherham pick-up, 9.30am Sheffield pick-up, 10am Chesterfield pick-up. Chesterfield to the Roman site of Wall for approximately 11am and a break for lunch for on hour. 12 o'clock depart for Evesham for approximate 1pm arrival, then free time in Evesham until 4pm. Depart for Stratford at 4pm, and arrive in Stratford around 4.30pm, then free time until we meet at 7pm for the 7.30pm start of the RSC performance of Christopher Marlowe's 'The Jew of Malta'. Day 2, free time in Stratford until 12 o'clock, then depart for Warwick and arrive for 12.30pm. Free time in Warwick until 3.30pm, or alternatively stay with the coach for an extra hour and go and see the Piers Gaveston memorial. 3.30pm meet up and head back to Chesterfield for 5pm, Sheffield for 5.30pm and Rotherham for 6pm. Timings all subject to traffic. Pick-ups can be arranged from Chesterfield, Sheffield and Rotherham. £150 for the trip, which includes a ticket for the RSC performance but not entry to Warwick Castle.
