THYLACINE
This appeared in a recent 'Australian Woodworker' magazine. Is there any link between this Sorby and the tenants of Rotherwood Hall? Does anyone have any background on the Sorby dynasty?

THYLACINE
Thanks Steve, great reading. This from a previous post regarding Rotherwood Hall :- It was the home of Richard Sorby Esq, Coal Producer b1806-d1862, he was the son of John Sorby who lived at nearby Orgreave Hall and founded the John Sorby & Sons edge tool business. Old rider
The factory is on the junction of Athol Road and Little London Road. Entrance on Athol Road. I only went there once to repair a chisel hardening machine. The name board is still on the outside. I don't know if production is still there. The group mentioned as the owners in the article sent Spear & Jackson saw production to Taiwan then a couple of years later sold Eclipse, Moor & Wright and Neill tools to a Chinese who moved their production to China.
