The way I see it this, all the Italian's I grew up with in Sheffield after the WW2 were eternally grateful for us British taking them in. A very friendly hard working people with long memories, they will do their best for us I'm sure. We were eating pizza and macaroni in Parkwood Spings long before it became popular here. W/E. You have to be careful talking to Italians, however, if they can tell you're English (not difficult with me) they will usually take it as meaning "I am sorry" regardless of the emphasis you put on it.
