According to member PT, who I am sure will be correct,

yes that is the same place.

I think It's "Walkabout", on the corner of West St and Carver St which used to be the beautiful 1802-built Methodist church.

I'm pretty certain, as I was involved in the campaign to prevent it being turned into a pub.

I'm not sure it's still consecrated ground. Before the change of use all the human remains were removed, though the stones may still be there.

There are hotels with bars built on the site of the old eggbox which was part of the old St Pauls church where the peace gardens are count too.

The registrar from the (now gone) wedding cake told me the bodies were removed to city road cemetery, but I recall reading somewhere they found some bones during the 'renovations' over the last few years.

There is a deconsecration process. Some redundant churches become all sorts of things, from bars to carpet warehouses, and they are deconsecrated before the change of use.

We, [around thirty of us from Chaucer] had our school leaving service at that Chapel in March 1959. The lord Mayor was there along with members of the education committee. I think most of the Easter school leavers from schools in the north of Sheffield must have been there as it was packed both upstairs and downstairs. In the 50s and 60s those leaving services were a regular occurrence. Anyone remember them? W/E.
