The Towers -

I've wondered about the odd looking Gate House for years.

Just recently I ventured up the driveway to the main building.

Built as residence for W.C LENG of the Sheffield Telegraph.

When Spear & Jackson's offices were bombed during WW2, The Towers was used as temporary offices.

Up the drive to the main building.

Couldn't get any better shots without standing on their lawn.

All I can remember about the history of this place is that it was built or at least used as an amusement park in Edwardian or Victorian times.

Believe it or not, every weekday morning and night up until the late 1980s d/deck buses were to be seen going up and down the drive of The Towers. ,,,, I will have a look for a photo. W/E.

After 1954 The Towers was used as a centre for handicapped children, so the buses were probably dropping the disabled kids off.
