Only one route into Sheffield so From Rotherham past Templeborough down Attercliffe road and Common and into the wicker. Picture could be Attercliffe road or Common. The downhill section of Atterclffe Road going in the direction of tinsley. That would be just down from where Woolworths (Not Littlewoods) used to be. Trams came off the Sheffield - Rotherham run once they finished the "New Bridge" at Tinsley. That was in the late 1940's when the 69 bus first made its appearance. Took some time to find this topic again: I was expecting it to be in the Transport section. Bought a copy of this photograph yesterday: here is a larger version of it. Another photo I bought yesterday was this one, purchased because I did not immediately know the location. A closer study suggests the two are at the same place, which I think is the B & C Co-op in Tinsley, on the corner of Sheffield Road and Bawtry Road, as seen here on Picture Sheffield: B & C Sheffield Road 1 B & C Sheffield Road 2 Map 141. Also of note with the picture of tram 255 is the white fender, a wartime measure to assist other road users during the blackout.
