Pub Updates

Recommended Posts

Many Thanks to those providing updates to the main list.

Updates (with provenance if possible) gratefully received from anyone.

If possible we would like a Pub name, an address (however vague), a persons name and a date. If there is some information missing, let us know anyway - we'll try to fill in the gaps.

Photographs and documents of any type relating to old Pubs/Publicans sought. Weddings/Birthdays etc etc, interior shots of premises most welcome.

Not sure how to send stuff ? Ask any administrator, post a reply here or email SheffieldHistory@Gmail.com and we will do our best to assist.

Peacock Fitzwilliam Street

Walt Scotts widow Annie was still running the pub in 1965.

She may have been the last one there before demolition.

I'm certain a friend of mine's father ran a pub on Fitzwilliam St, his wife was Jane, seems a strange coincidence, this Walt Scott only died fairly recently, it was after 1965 they had the pub.

Walt & Annie had a son Walt who took over. I think he later took the Mail Coach.

Jane does ring a bell [ ha ,well she did at closing time]

I believe the Walt you are talking about is Walt and Annies son.

Great stuff - you've got me beaten all ways up there lazyb4 ! A great job.

Where did the information come from, if I may ask ? I'm used to quality updates from other "Pub obsessives" but not as a first post (not complaining either)

Welcome to the Site, poke around, ask questions, give us any more Pub details you have (please), but, most of all - Enjoy :)

Shouldn't be full, and I've deleted some. Bugger.

Please keep researching but hold any updates until further notice. Jeremy has a plan to put my original spreadsheet online so you, me and him can edit it. Too damned clever for me, but I've had a go and it seems to work.

Update the records on here, if you wish, but probably best to wait then you can update here plus my original spreadsheet as well.

It's two updates, but it gets here sorted and the original spreadsheet.

I've done a few updates to the spreadsheet today too, and everything is OK so far.
