Shirecliffe house was used for many years as a local authority remand home and for boys in care. This was i think until sometime in the 1980s when extensions mostly to the rear were demolished. Does anyone know what its used for these days ?

What was it before it was a remand home? I know there was an older Shirecliffe Hall which was demolished. Is it built on the site? Is it same building as was Parkwood/Shirecleffe College?

It was obviously a large house at some time . I have a dim and distant recollection that it was owned by the Willis family... in the 1920s...but I could be very wrong.

Shirecliffe House proposed to be a Remand Home, newspaper cutting from, "Grandma's Scrapbook" Post.

Sorry no date for the cutting probably 1938/9. House suffered bomb damage during WWII.
